Very interesting elephant video . If you watch you'll see , a type of calisthenics stretching of the body , very similar to human stretching and limbering . Grasping sand with tip of nose , basically their hand , and using it to scratch underbelly , showing the ability to use tools and knowledge of abrasives .
The upraised nostril sniffing , in a higher stream of air , or draining it's trunk into it's mouth .
